Student Clubs

Our future is our lifeline.

Ucluelet Secondary School

As we work to ensure students are informed about the  issues affecting our coastlines, it’s essential we provide opportunities for them to influence environmental action through service, leadership development, civic engagement and direct action organizing. Canada’s first Surfrider Youth Club was established on the Pacific Rim in 2018 at the Ucluelet Secondary School and since then the network has gone from strength to strength, organizing youth-led beach cleans, waste-reduction initiatives, fundraising activities, as well as building community outreach and awareness.

University of Victoria

The Surfrider Foundation University of Victoria Club (Surfrider UVic) follows the overall mission of the Surfrider Foundation, which is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves, and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network. Surfrider UVic is entirely student-run, and mainly focuses on engaging UVic students on the issue of plastic pollution through educational events, beach cleanups, film screenings, and workshops. We also campaign for larger systemic change at UVic through our Plastic-Free Campus Campaign, which urges UVic to phase out single-use plastics and reduce waste on campus. Our beach cleanups run monthly through the fall and spring semesters, and everyone is welcome.

Dalhousie university

The Surfrider Foundation Dalhousie University Club is one of the new Clubs to join the Surfrider fold! This Club has officially brought Surfrider’s presence to the east coast of Canada. Already, the Dalhousie Club is organizing surf trips and coastal restoration activities, as well as supporting the important effort to ban the use of expanded polystyrene in aquatic environments.

Mcgill university

The Surfrider Foundation McGill University Club is the other new Club to come aboard the Surfrider network. Already, the McGill Club has been busy at work organizing waste free picnics on campus as well as park cleanups.
