Vancouver Island Water activity report

Vancouver Island is home to the largest community of Surfrider Canada activists, with chapters in Tofino/Ucluelet and Southern Vancouver Island, and student clubs at Ucluelet Secondary and the University of Victoria. Living on an island, the ocean and coastal environment play a big part in the day to day lives of these people, as well as many others who call Vancouver Island home.

Surfing, paddle boarding, swimming, kayaking, fishing, etc. All these activities are a big part of the communities we live in and shape our identities.

Recently, Surfrider Foundation Canada connected with CBC “On the Island,” Vancouver Islands weekly morning show on 90.5FM, to create a segment that celebrates our connection to the ocean and provides a broad overview of conditions for surfing, kiting, windsurfing, paddle boarding, kayaking or just visiting the beach. We cover swell, wind, temperature, tides, and other ocean conditions.

This is an opportunity to share with people an overview of what is in store for the ocean in the week ahead, so people can get out there and enjoy the beautiful place they call home.
